When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
- Proverbs 29:2
“But clearly our entire principles of the country was founded on, you cannot have a Ministry of Truth in this country. And so let’s get real here. Let’s make sure that we’re doing things that benefit Floridians and Americans, but we’re not going to let Biden get away with this one. So, we’ll be fighting back.”
Those were the remarks of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis last week in response to the Biden Regime’s announcement of a new Ministry of Truth – the Disinformation Governance Board is the actual name for this new group that will fall under the umbrella of the equally Orwellian named Department of Homeland Security.
For years, many have warned Americans of the creeping police state in this nation, and the day for it has finally arrived. Actually, it’s been here for some time, but the fruits of the authoritarian mindset of our rulers have become much more manifest over the past two years.
The Covid hoax was the excuse for kicking off this latest round of attacks on liberty. I was skeptical of Covid when it first was announced in January of 2020. It just didn’t seem right. No virus had inspired the threats of lockdowns and other violations of civil rights that were being proposed for this new viral strain.
It was in early April of 2020 that I was pushed over the edge from Covid skeptic to jumping up and down and screaming Covid lockdown opponent by Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear’s threats to prosecute, persecute is more accurate, Christians for attending church services on Easter Sunday. The Governor was clearly in violation of the Constitution in doing what he did. More seriously, he was in violation of the law of God, who commands his people to gather on the first day of the week to study the Scriptures, sing and break bread.
It’s hard to believe that it was only two years ago that I wrote my first article on Covid titled “Church, State and Coronavirus,” detaining my objections to Governor Beshear’s police state tactics.
The hoaxes have come fast and furious ever since. The manufactured George Floyd riots pushed by BLM and Antifa, the stolen election of 2020, the most likely Deep State provoked January 6 “insurrection,” Trump’s second impeachment, the government-mandated deadly Covid shots, further crackdowns on free speech online, the so-far successful attempt to flood the nation with millions of illegal aliens whose support is generously paid for by Americans who are as a result seeing their livelihoods diminished by lowered wages and job opportunities while their costs soar, and the War in Ukraine ginned up by our own government. Oh, and lest I forget, there’s the continued queering of America by the homosexual lobby and its cheerleaders in academia, the media, and business.
Disney Corporation has become the poster child for the gay lobby. Remarkably, a company with a once squeaky-clean image as the maker of family-friendly movies and related theme parks has substantially damaged its brand name in support of the promotion of Sodomy to young children and was recently slapped hard by the state of Florida for doing so. The Florida bill rescinding Disney’s special tax status in response to its open support of sexual perversion is an almost textbook example of the civil magistrate “punishing those who practice evil and rewarding the good.” One could hope to see much more of this sort of thing.
But apart from a few wins here in there, those who adhere to the principles of liberty as set forth in our Constitution have had a hard time of it recently. And not just the past two years. The losing streak has been going on much longer than that.
In the middle of the 20th century, Gordon Clark wrote about the decline of America and the West in his book A Christian View of Men and Things. In the now 70 years that have passed since Clark’s writing, the situation has become much more dire. So much so, that employees of the executive branch of the federal government now are perfectly okay with announcing, what is in effect, a Ministry of Truth.
It is my hope that enough Americans will see the danger inherent in allowing the government to appoint itself as the arbiter of truth that they would force the Biden Regime to immediately backtrack. But it is my fear is that the most that will happen is a few Republicans will grumble here and there, making indistinct noises about opposing the Biden Regime’s attack on the First Amendment while doing nothing effective about it. Biden’s tyrannical creation will remain in place, and we will learn to live with it, perhaps even to love it.
Very clearly, the wicked now “beareth rule” in this nation, and the American people, at least that segment of them who love liberty and hate tyranny, mourn.
So how did we get here? How did a nation founded on the principles of liberty, a nation born out of the Protestant Reformation, slide so far as to find itself teetering on the edge of tyranny?
Summing up Gordon Clark’s argument in A Christian View of Men and Things, John Robbins gave the correct answer when he wrote, “[T]he West is disappearing because Christianity, on which Western civilization was built, has already virtually disappeared in the West” (A Christian View of Men and Things, 11).
Robbins wrote those words in 2005, fifty-three years after the publication of A Christian View of Men and Things. If what Clark wrote in 1952 and what Robbins wrote in 2005 is true, and it is, how much more so is it true in 2022?
Gordon Clark went home to the Lord in 1985, thirty-seven years ago, and sometimes I wonder what he would think if he could see the 2022 version of America. Were I to venture a guess, I think he would be shocked but not surprised. Shocked by how much things have changed for the worse in a very short period of time; not surprised because the philosophical ideas that produced the world in which we live in 2022 were by 1985 already longstanding trends. Robbins summed up these trends in his Foreword to A Christian View of Men and Things as, “the West’s fatal choosing of non-Christian philosophy, not Christ” (12).
The growth of homosexuality, feminism, transgenderism, Critical Race Theory, and creature worship in the form of the environmentalist movement are but a few examples of the fallout from the West’s rejection of Christ and embrace of non-Christian philosophy.
Another example is the increasing tyranny we all live under. It is deeply disturbing to this author to see the confidence with which the most outrageous and unconstitutional proposals are put forth by the enemies of liberty. The Democrats weren’t even remotely shy about stealing the 2020 election. They did it right in front of our faces and seemed fully confident they could make it stick. And you know what? They were right.
They thought they could like us down and force us all to take the poison death shot and that there would be no consequences for them. Will they be right about that? Probably.
Ditto with the Ministry of Truth. They – the Democrats, and to a lesser extent, the Republicans, the Deep Staters in the FBI, NSA, and CIA, together with the globalists both within and without America, in particular the New World Order pushing Antichrist Roman Catholic Church-State – seem to have no fear that their flagrant attacks on the most basic principles of liberty such as free speech will carry any negative repercussions for them. Are they right about this? Probably so. Certainly, nothing in recent history makes me think they can’t get away with it.
Many Christians and conservatives in America seem quite confident that they will be able to vote out the Democrats in the fall elections. But I’m not at all sure of this. If our nation is so corrupt as to allow an obviously rigged presidential election to stand, what makes anyone think we can vote our way out of this mess?
The brutal truth, in my opinion, is that evil men have seized control of so many levers of power that it will be very difficult for Christians and liberty-loving Americans to dislodge them without a massive fight.
Bottom line, in 2022 the wicked beareth rule in America and are double-dog daring the rest of us to do something about it.
