Mother’s Day Thoughts on the Pro-Abortion Crowd
Last week when someone leaked the Supreme Court’s draft majority opinion overturning Roe v. Wade, many commentators, including this author, viewed this leak to rally the troops and an attempt to intimidate the justices into withdrawing their support for the decision. The actions or inactions on the part of highly placed people over the past few days have done nothing to diminish this suspicion.
Of course, we don’t know for sure who leaked the draft opinion or their motives for doing so. But given the shrieking that started immediately on the pro-abort side, and which seems to be picking up momentum, it’s reasonable to speculate that stirring up the mob to bully the court was the intent.
Recent history also supports this notion. Think back just two years to the Black Lives Matter/Antifa rioting. Those riots were largely successful in advancing the woke agenda in schools, universities, and corporations and in helping to remove Donald Trump from power and installing the illegitimate Biden Regime in the White House.
Force works, as John Robbins noted. That’s why tyrants use it.
Further, those who engage in violent protests to defend the “right” to kill kids in the womb know that there is little likelihood that they every will face legal consequences for their actions.
The Biden Regime will gladly go after ordinary Americans who make their voices heard at school board meetings to protest the transgender agenda or Critical Race Theory being pushed on their children at their expense. That’s a given. But to this author’s knowledge, no one from the Biden Regime has issued any kind of warning about the concerted attempt by various groups to intimidate the Justices into altering their stance on overturning Roe v. Wade.
Something else that jumps out at me relative to the abortion issue is how much some women seem to resent the fact that they are women. They really do hate it that they have been tasked with giving birth, and rail on the supposed curse every chance they get. It seems they would rather be miserable as second-rate men than take joy in embracing their God-given gifts as women.
Feminism is such a lie. In this author’s opinion, it is perhaps the most destructive philosophy that’s ever been foisted on any people. God created us male and female and, yes, there are roles that pertain to each. Men are not to behave like women, and women are not to behave like men. It is sinful for them to do so.
But for 200 years feminism has taught us that it’s wrong to think in terms of men’s roles and women’s roles. You-go-girlism is now the norm, and anything that is seen to hinder women from behaving just like men must be done away with. This, I think, is one of the main reasons feminists defend abortion and Roe v. Wade so vehemently. They rightfully understand that Roe v. Wade is critical to the feminist program seeking equality with men and will never give it up willingly. They will gladly sacrifice their unborn children to their idolatrous lust for power.
Another angle to Roe v. Wade, perhaps even more important than the feminist thread, is that challenging the 1973 Court decision challenges the ability of American subversives to use the courts as an end-around our system of checks and balances. Instead of persuading their fellow Americans of the rightness of their views, it’s easier for them to capture the courts and use judicial fiat to impose their warped ideas on the nation.
Congress never passed legislation making abortion “THE LAW OF THE LAND” as Hillary Clinton and other feminists/liberals/progressives like to lecture us. It was made that way by nine lawyers in 1973.
Same-sex marriage is a more recent decision of SCOTUS of the same ilk as the abortion ruling. In 2015, the corrupt Supreme Court somehow discerned in the Constitution the right for homosexuals to marry. Of course, the Constitution no more speaks about marriage than it speaks about abortion. But that didn’t stop the Court from overturning all state-level laws defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
The case in question, Obergefell v. Hodges, required all states to recognize same-sex “marriages,” overturning all state-level statutes prohibiting them, including the clause in the Ohio Constitution that defined marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
It was by judicial fiat, not by legislation, that sexual perversion was imposed on America.
Judicial fiat is perhaps the greatest of all superpowers of the progressives, and they will never give it up willingly. If Roe v. Wade can be overturned, so too can Obergefell v. Hodges and other fiat judicial atrocities. The progs understand very well what is at stake in Roe v. Wade and will, in my opinion, conduct a scorched earth defense of the 1973 ruling to maintain their ability to use the courts to impose their program on America.
This brings up a further problem, that of judicial review. It may seem odd to people today who are used to the idea of SCOTUS ruling this or that law is or is not constitutional, but this was never supposed to be the function of SCOTUS. It was never intended that the Supreme Court decide whether or not a law passed constitutional muster. It was the job of the Court to decide whether a law had been applied properly.
Judicial review stands the relationship between the Constitution and the Supreme Court on its head. It is the Constitution that says what the Court is. The Court does not decide what the Constitution is. But with the 1803 Marbury v. Madison decision, the Court usurped the role of super-legislature. Ever since the justices have acted as black-robed Olympian gods casting lightning bolts from on high down upon the heads of the poor helots of America. Once made, their decisions cannot be challenged. It is hard for this author to think of anything less republican than this. Yet people have tolerated this state of affairs for 219 years.
While I am thankful that the current Court has seen fit to overturn a bad ruling and return abortion law back to the states, ultimately, SCOTUS needs to be stripped of the power of judicial review. If that doesn’t happen, there is nothing to stop the progressives from retaking SCOTUS and, assuming Roe v. Wade is overturned, reimposing it by judicial fiat on America.
